“The Lord was with Joseph” is mentioned 3 times within this 23 verse chapter. Joseph was alone with no friends and no family. He had no one to help or comfort him, but the Lord was with Joseph and had mercy on him.
It was also evident to others that the Lord was with Joseph. By his actions; having the will power to resist the temptation of Potipher’s wife. Being a blessing to the prison guard while imprisoned after being wrongfully accused. By his success; Potiphar could see that God was alive and blessing Joseph in all he did.
Let us not forget, through Joseph, to look unto Jesus. He who suffered being tempted, yet without sin; who was slandered, persecuted, and imprisoned, but without cause; who by the cross ascended to the throne. May we be enabled to follow the same path in submitting and in suffering, to the same place of glory.

I saw throughout the text that God knew that Joseph was a leader, so in every circumstance Joseph was in, God gave him a leadership role. Joseph was high up in Potiphar’s command, and he was also given leadership privileges while in prison. Soon we will read that Joseph will be in charge of storing and then providing food for many people when they experience a long drought. It is reassuring to know that God will use the gifts He has given us, no matter where we are in life.

It’s interesting that all the powerJoseph had and that he didn’t let it go to his head. He acknowledged that his favour had come from God. Joseph could have just slept with Potiphar’s wife and just assumed that his good looks were just part of God’s blessing and all the attention that came with it. However Joseph actively sought to avoid temptation by choosing to not put himself in a vulnerable situation. We can learn from that as well…to not just acknowledge God and his goodness but to be active in avoiding situations that go against God’s plan.
