“The Lord said to Moses, ‘Bring the tribe of Levi and present them to Aaron the priest to assist him. They are to perform duties for him and for the whole community at the Tent of Meeting by doing work of the tabernacle.”
I found it interesting in that there currently appears to be unity among and within the tribes. I only work with a handful of people, but when someone is asked to add one more task to their daily duties there is a lot of resistance from that individual. In today’s reading there was no resistance on Moses’ part, and no apparent resistance from the tribes, only obedience.
“The Lord also said to Moses, ‘I have taken the Levites from among the Israelites in place of the first male offspring of every Israelite woman.'”
When watching a tv series, I have asked myself the question ‘Do the writers know how the series will end?’. Well God knows how His story will end. We see early on how animals were used in place of sin and how the animals were to be pure and free from defect in order to be worthy of sacrifice. This was all to foreshadow the perfect and complete sacrifice of Christ in place of our sins; something we are all unworthy of.

I thought it was interesting to note that all other groups counted were 20 years and older but the Levites were counted from one month and up.
