Numbers 7

In today’s reading, each of the twelve tribes had its leader bring their offering for the dedication of the altar in twelve sequential days. This reminded me of The Twelve Days of Christmas carol that we’re all familiar with, with the exception that these offerings were all the same.

Giving verses receiving. The song is about what their “true love” gave to them. In our reading, the roles would be reversed in that the leaders were giving their offerings to their “true love”. The Christian view is most often reverse to that of the secular view, and today’s reading is no different.

  1. I kept thinking this would be an easy passage to memorize😂 Why did God spell out each sacrifice instead of just the recap? I think repetition is important the highlight significance. It’s often the main idea of a song repeated in the refrain. It’s how my grade 1 friends learn power words. It’s how we memorize song lyrics, phone numbers, and so much more. We repeat it. If this sacrifice is repeated 12 times, it’s probably something we should take note of.
