Numbers 28

Today was the first chapter after Moses commissions Joshua to take the lead. When training someone new, a common question is where to begin?

The Lord tells Moses to begin with the ordinances of worship and as they are about to enter Canaan, they are to take their religion with them. The laws are summed up concerning the sacrifices that were to be offered. The various sacrifices were broken down as to what was required daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, for Passover, and at Pentecost.

Today’s chapter reminded me that the most important thing to remember is our relationship with God. When we are training our children, it is important to teach them life skills, but first and foremost we should be training them to be deeply rooted in the Word of God.

  1. So many animals were to be sacrificed “without blemish or defect”. It makes me wonder how many of these ‘perfect’ animals existed. I always thought that these were rare and that’s why it was a sacrifice but maybe they were more common or maybe God provided exactly what was needed for each family’s sacrifice?
