Numbers 31

“‘Have you allowed all the woman to live?’ He asked them. ‘They were the ones who followed Balaam’s advice and were the means of turning the Israelites away from the Lord in what happened at Peor, so that a plague struck the Lord’s people. Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man.’”

These verses reminded me of the importance in not associating with anything that can either lead us to, or have us succumb to temptation. Just as the women who were guilty in their indecencies at Peor, along with the boys who may endanger the Israelites inheritance were put to death. So must we put to death all things in our lives that may endanger us in receiving our inheritance in the Heaven.

Imagine going into battle and not losing a single person in that battle? What a victory! It reminds me of the verse in Romans 8:31: if God is for us then who can be against us? What a comfort to know that when we are following God’s plan and will then we cannot fail.
