The definition of rest is to cease work or movement in order to relax, refresh oneself, or recover strength.
Whether it’s getting a good night sleep, staying in and watching TV, or going on a vacation, rest is something that we all desire at some point. Unfortunately, the places that we seek in giving us rest, tend to be short lived. The first verse tells us that we will find rest if we dwell in the presence of God. If we are to dwell in God’s presence, we are not coming and going, but living and staying in his presence.
The chapter does not say that wickedness or trials will not be with us. In fact, in verse 13, it says that we will walk among lions and snakes. We are not exempt from evil, but when we make the Most High our dwelling, we will find refuge in Him and He will answer when we call.
It’s like the saying, “Know God, know peace. No God, no peace.” This Psalm for me was a good reminder of the hope, trust, and peace that we as Christians, have placed in our Almighty God.

“The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name.”
Psalms 91:14 NLT
This verse does not promise an easy ride (in fact the need for rescue implies a difficult time) but God will rescue us and will protect us. What a great reminder.
