Psalm 2

“Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.” Psalm 2:11-12 NIV

We all want the blessings, but not all want to serve. For us to receive the blessings of God and be subject to His grace, it is necessary too then, that we be subject to His rule.

  1. This stood out for me: ““Let us break their chains,” they cry, “and free ourselves from slavery to God.””
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭2:3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I think many people feel like Christianity is just rules and laws and they resent being told what to do because that means to be submissive. However, God’s rules and laws are not meant to restrict us, they are meant to give us freedom from consequences. It’s like when a parent sets boundaries…it’s not to take away the kids’ fun but to keep them safe (alive!) within limits. A child may want to play on the street, a parent restricts them from being run over. When we break free from God’s “slavery” we become in danger of disastrous consequences because we’d rather do things our way.
