This short Psalm speaks of the character of those who may dwell with the Lord. The reality is that no one deserves to dwell with the Lord. But thankfully, through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, we have all been presented with that opportunity.
Psalm 15:2 provides an answer as to who may abide with the Lord: “Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts.” (NLT)
The Message sums this verse up by saying, “Walk straight, act right, tell the truth.” It sounds simple, and it is, until our personal desires take over. Then it’s a different story.
Our days need to begin the way this verse in the NLT translation ends – with sincere hearts. If our hearts are cold and unchanged, so will our walk with the Lord be unchanged. However, those whose hearts have been softened and are sincere, “Such people will stand firm forever.” (verse 5b NLT) and be able to dwell with the Lord.

This stood out for me:
“Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the Lord, and keep their promises even when it hurts.”
Psalms 15:4 NLT
Tough stuff. Being outraged by those who openly disregard God’s commands, support the people who follow God in our words (no gossip) in our actions (faithfully in prayer) and in our finances and time (give to support ministry), and abide by our words to always mean what we say and say what we mean.
