“The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, and their ways are vile; there is no one who does good.” Psalm 53:1 NIV
Our human nature is sinful and as a result, we live in a corrupt and wicked world. By saying there is no God, is to say there is no Judge, or Governor of the world, and no Providence ruling over the affairs of men. It could only be with a hardened heart that a person would say there is no God.
Just as the chapter ends with hope, there is also hope for us. Hope for us, not in us. The hope is in a Saviour – one who has the power to cure the evil in the world. He will save all believers from their sins, and thereby providing them with an everlasting joy.

That same verse stood out for me along with verse two: “God looks down from heaven on the children of man to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. They have all fallen away; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one.”
Psalms 53:2-3 ESV
What’s interesting is that this verse is just as applicable (or even more applicable!) now as even within churches there is corruption of God’s word and misinterpreted versions oF his commands. Just as God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow…humanity also remains the same: sinners in need of a Saviour.

Very true. We need to be securely rooted in the Word to make sure we are in line with the Truth.
