Psalm 3

“Real help comes from God. Your blessing clothes your people”. Psalm 3:8 The Message

The above verse is the last verse in this chapter. The Message used the words “real help”, while other translations use deliverance, victory , and salvation. David has needed to flee for his life many times, and he could have used either one of those terms.

The last sentence in this chapter says that His blessings clothe His people. One thing we do everyday is get dressed. Depending on the day we have before us, we select the clothes that match the activity. Back in Genesis, while in the Garden of Eden, the Lord clothed Adam and Eve even after they attempted to cover themselves. The coverings they (Adam and Eve) made, were not adequate.

Just as we select our clothes based on the weather and the day before us, the Lord clothes us based on our actual needs of the day. It also might be fitting that those words were saved for the end of the chapter; we get dressed first thing in the morning, Adam and Eve dressed themselves first, and then at the end of it all, we can see how the Lord came in and clothed us, due to our own inability and inadequacy in meeting our own needs.

  1. Today in the sermon it said to “above all put on love” What we clothe ourselves in reflects how we act.

This verse stood out for me:
“I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the Lord was watching over me.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

In this uncertain time, we can sleep in peace because the Lord watches over us.
