“Love wisdom like a sister; make insight a beloved member of your family.” Proverbs 7:4 NLT
We must have a desire for wisdom and insight, so that we can live. A desire so strong that we would remain in them, as compared to those that cannot live without them. The Word of God, which provides all wisdom, is to dwell deep within our hearts, keeping us from the fatal consequences of our own passions and desires.
In writing the thoughts above I was reminded of James 1:14-15. It reads, “but each one is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desires and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
“Her house (a prostitute in this chapter, but theoretically any sin) is a highway to the grave, leading down to the chambers of death.” Proverbs 7:27 NIV
May God’s Word be that which causes us to hate sin, allowing the Holy Spirit to empower us so we can stand against it.

This stood out for me:
“It was at twilight, in the evening, as deep darkness fell.”
Proverbs 7:9 NLT
It’s not often in bright daylight and in full view of everyone that sun happens. It’s hidden in the secret or the darkness or in the shadows where sin lurks. We need to be aware that while darkness gives the impression of covering up our indiscretions the light always follows and the truth always comes out. May we strive to be in the light and not allow darkness to cover us in a false sense that we can get away with sin.
