Proverbs 10

“Doing wrong is fun for a fool, but living wisely brings pleasure to the sensible.” Proverbs 10:23 NLT

I like how the NKJV begins this verse. It says, “To do evil is like a sport to a fool.” Generally a sport is something that one would work on to improve their skills – to get better. It’s also an activity that one would perform with delight and not with shame, remorse, or fear.

But a person who has wisdom is kept from wickedness. Their “sport” or pleasure is practicing and improving on living wisely.

Like in most sports, there are two teams. In today’s reading, we have team wisdom and team foolish – and you can only play on one team.

  1. Good thoughts.

This stood out for me: “Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭10:19‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Sometimes it’s wise to just be quiet. Wise but difficult. Keeping your mouth shut is a way to prevent lying, gossip, hurtful comments, inappropriate language, and more.
