Once again, a chapter loaded with various tidbits of wisdom for everyday life. Here’s a couple of verses that jumped out to me:
“To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction.” Proverbs 12:1 NLT
In The Message translation it reads, “how shortsighted to refuse correction!”. If I’m being totally honest, being corrected is not an easy one for me and something I need to work at.
“A worthy wife is a crown for her husband, but a disgraceful woman is like cancer in his bones.” Proverbs 12:4 NLT
I can relate to this verse – thankfully to the worthy wife part being compared to that of a crown 😘. A marriage ought to be considered as an honour and comfort for one another, and not the reverse where it becomes a burden or consumes us.
Lock Your Wings 
Funny that those two verses also stood out for me. The first one because I too struggle with correction🙈 the second because I thought it was interesting that a worthy wife was compared to a crown-something visible, admirable, and compared to royalty- whereas a cancer- is silently destructive, often not realized until it is too late, and deadly.
These nuggets also stood out for me:
“Truthful words stand the test of time, but lies are soon exposed.”
Proverbs 12:19 NLT
Lies breed more lies and more lies are hard to cover. You don’t have to remember as much when you are truthful. Also, truth tellers are trustworthy and known for their honesty….liars are known too for their untrustworthiness.
“Work hard and become a leader; be lazy and become a slave.”
Proverbs 12:24 NLT
What we put in (to our job, into our relationships, into serving, into our ‘free time’) says so much about our character. Hard work in areas of our lives can determine the direction our lives take. Laziness or inability to put effort into things usually means that the direction is not determined and you may end up where you never intended to be. Instead of being a leader in your life, you are just a follower to the thing that’s the easiest.
