“Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends.” Proverbs 17:9 NLT
God is the greatest example of love; He not only forgives, but He separates us from our sins as far as the east is from the west. Our sins are not to be dwelt upon, but we are to dwell on His forgiveness and His power to conquer sin.
When we forgive someone else, we are to be like Christ in that we ought to forget their sin as well. We are not to dwell on it or keep it in the back of our minds so that we can raise that matter to the surface once again, but rather we should bury it so deep that we are oblivious to it.

This stood out for me: “Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent— both are detestable to the Lord.”
Proverbs 17:15 NLT
Maybe it’s the show we’re watching right now but it’s clear that acquitting the guilty may have more to do with their lawyer than if they are actually innocent. This is a good reminder that we should own up to our mistakes and not try to get off from any punishment we deserve. Also it’s important to not think the worst of others before we make a snap judgement to condemn the innocent. It’s not always during a trial that this verse applies.
