Proverbs 18

“A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; he rages against all wise judgment.” Proverbs 18:1 NKJV

For the last few months the whole world has been mandated to live in a form of isolation as churches, schools, and work places were forced to close due to the Coronavirus. Some of the immediate effects of this isolation on people have been reported to include people suffering from depression or loneliness, along with an increase use of drugs, alcohol, and pornography.

When we are bored we look for something to do and there are many desires within our hearts that if we acted upon them, they would be against wise judgment. During this time of isolation and social distancing, may we not seek our own desires which are sinful by nature, but rather call upon and seek the Lord who is our never failing tower of refuge.

  1. This stood out for me: “Fools’ words get them into constant quarrels; they are asking for a beating.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭18:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Some people just don’t know when to be quiet and it gets them into trouble. May we be more quick to listen than to speak.
