A couple of simple, practical, common sense verses that stood out to me today:
“Those too lazy to plow in the right season will have no food at the harvest.” Proverbs 20:4 NLT
There is a season and a time to work and we ought to diligently seize that opportunity while it is still with us. Along with that thought is that our present conditions determine our future conditions – when the work is done, all is well.
“Don’t trap yourself by making a rash promise to God and only later counting the cost.” Proverbs 20:25 NLT
Pretty simple – say what you mean and mean what you say.

“Wine produces mockers; alcohol leads to brawls. Those led astray by drink cannot be wise.”
Proverbs 20:1 NLT
We’ve never been big drinkers (probably because we couldn’t afford it 😛) but I think also the potential for harm. It seems wasteful to spend money on something that lead you to do something g you’d regret.
“Even children are known by the way they act, whether their conduct is pure, and whether it is right.”
Proverbs 20:11 NLT
Yup. Also they way they are raised has a huge impact on how they act.
“Ears to hear and eyes to see— both are gifts from the Lord.”
Proverbs 20:12 NLT
Sometimes we overlook the simple blessings. I can’t remember the last time I was consciously thankful for the ability to see and to listen.
“The Lord directs our steps, so why try to understand everything along the way?”
Proverbs 20:24 NLT
Kind of feel this verse speaking directly to me🙈
