2 Chronicles 2

“This must be a magnificent Temple because our God is greater than all other gods.” 2 Chronicles 2:5 NLT

Solomon’s desire was to make the Temple magnificent. Why? Because God is greater than all other gods. He is above all idols and above all princes. Idols are nothing and princes are little, and both are under the control of the God of Israel.

This verse reminded me of Colossians 3:23 – “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” Thinking of this verse caused me to wonder if in my marriage, in my job, and in my calling to God, am I treating my responsibilities and calling the way Solomon treated his call in building the Temple?

Solomon was resolved to build the Temple magnificent; it would be built like no other structure. May we remember that in all we do, we are ultimately working as Solomon did – unto the Lord.

  1. This stood out for me:

“His mother is from the tribe of Dan in Israel, and his father is from Tyre. He is skillful at making things from gold, silver, bronze, and iron, and he also works with stone and wood. He can work with purple, blue, and scarlet cloth and fine linen. He is also an engraver and can follow any design given to him. He will work with your craftsmen and those appointed by my lord David, your father.”
    ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭2:14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Our reputation always precedes us-good or bad. Often people hear about you before they meet you and based on what they’ve seen or heard they form an opinion about you. Huram-abi was known. His skill, his range of talents, His ability to work well with others, his family lineage is known. What kind or reputation do we have? How are we known to the people around us?
