2 Chronicles 6

“When they sin against you – for there is no one who does not sin – and you become angry with them and give them over to the enemy, who takes them captive to a land far away or near; and if they have a change of heart in the land where they are held captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captivity and say, ‘We have sinned, we have done wrong and acted wickedly’, and if they turn back to you with all their heart and soul in the land of their captivity where they were taken, and pray toward the land you gave their ancestors, toward the city you have chosen and toward the temple I have built for your Name; then from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer and their pleas and uphold their cause. And forgive your people who sinned against you.” 2 Chronicles 6:36-39 NIV

These verses stood out to me because this prayer by Solomon depicts who we are. We are sinners. We know better, but because of our sinful nature, we still choose to do wrong by temporarily satisfying our personal desires.

The good news is that no matter what we’ve done, no matter how bad we think it is, no matter how long we’ve travelled that path, no matter how many people we’ve hurt, and no matter how far we think we’ve walked away from God, there is no act too wicked and no sin too great that disqualifies us from Christ’s salvation when we repent with all our heart and turn back to Him.

  1. So true.

    This stood out for me:

““O my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive to all the prayers made to you in this place.”
    ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭6:40‬ ‭NLT‬‬

What a blessing to know that we don’t have to be in Solomon’s temple to have God see and hear our prayers. God meets us where we’re at. In this time of Covid, we know that God is not just in the church but He is wherever we are worshiping Him.
