“How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension!” Psalm 147:5 NLT
God is not created, He is the creator. He is not dependent on man or in need of anything we can do or give. He is in all things and controls all things; from before time began to right now, He remains on his throne.
The fact that He is the creator means that He understands all things. He’s not an expert in one area, but in all areas. It is upon His command that the rain and snow fall, that the sun shines or is hidden behind clouds. He causes the winds to blow or die down, and tells the sun and moon when to shine.
In reading today’s Psalm, I was reminded of the song “You are God Alone”. I have included a link for those who are not familiar with it:
And yet we still have a hard time submitting to a God who is so great and so powerful. One who knows and understands everything – the past and the future. May we remember that He is unchangeable, unshakable, and unstoppable. That is His plan – and that’s just the way it is.

Good thoughts.
This stood out for me: “Then, at his command, it all melts. He sends his winds, and the ice thaws.”
Psalms 147:18 NLT
I guess because my Sunday School images of people in Jesus’ time just wearing robes and sandals, this verse made me wonder if they even knew what snow and ice were…spoiler alert: google says it does snow in Israel occasionally. It still is mainly sandal weather but this verse would be understood…probably even more do because the snow would not last long. Unlike here which may make people wonder if God was ever going to send the winds to melt the snow!
