“People can never predict when hard times might come. Like fish in a net or birds in a trap, people are caught by sudden tragedy.” Ecclesiastes 9:12 NLT
Like a fish being caught in a net, Satan baits people with worldly objects in hopes that we neglect and even reject the Gospel. He is clever and uses partial truths to capture our attention in attempt to lure us towards him. Those captured by Satan’s net have fallen into tragedy and destruction.
Many things in life are unknown, while the greatest unknown is our time of death. Let us not put on hold the concern we have for our soul, but rather submit to the Lord’s will, the Lord’s truths, and the Lord’s promises.

This stood out for me (and not just that’s it’s a super long verse): “I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.”
Ecclesiastes 9:11 NLT
You could believe that it’s all coincidence or fate or luck when something happens. You could spend an exorbitant amounts of time explaining away why things happen when they are least expected. Or you could believe that God had his hand in every situation. It’s not about being in the right place at the right time but that God created an impossible situation to occur. It does take faith but when we stop and realize God’s power in every circumstance it can be a relief to know He is ultimately in control.
