“Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.” Proverbs 30:5 NKJV
God’s word is authentic, perfect, unadulterated, and true – as the verse states, it is pure. Just as gold can be tested and proven for its purity, every word of God is proven in the furnace of experience. Because His words are pure, His promises are pure as well.
His promise is to be a shield for those who put their trust in Him. We are to trust Him not only in the area of Spiritual things, but in the worldly things as well. It is only by His power and grace that we will have victory over the sinful desires of our heart, as well as from false doctrine and errors of His word.

These verses stood out for me:
“O God, I beg two favors from you; let me have them before I die. First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs. For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name.”
Proverbs 30:7-9 NLT
Admirable requests: the desire to be honest (keeps you in check, people trust you, live in truth) and being with enough material goods to be comfortable but not too much that you will ignore Your need for God to be the provider.
I think it’s interesting that not telling a lie is considered first above being comfortable. I wonder if that’s because it’s hard not to lie. I think it’s much easier to live comfortably with your means and probably in our culture it’s actually easy to believe our comfort comes from our own making and not by God’s grace.

Good thoughts. I also thought it was interesting that not telling a lie was mentioned first.
