“Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God. He built up the fortified cities of Judah, since the land was at peace. No one was at war with him during those years, for the Lord gave him rest.” 2 Chronicles 14:2 & 6 NIV
I am reminded of Psalm 119:1 – “Blessed (or joyful) are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord.”
Asa did what was good and right, acting in accordance with God’s law. Laws, in general, are put in place for our safety and the Lord’s commands and instructions are no different. We are not arrested when obeying laws imposed by our government, nor is there any law against living by the fruit of the Spirit.
The Lord is the giver of all things good, and rest is one of those gifts that He so willingly wants to give.

Good thoughts.
This stood out for me: “Then Asa cried out to the Lord his God, “O Lord, no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in you alone. It is in your name that we have come against this vast horde. O Lord, you are our God; do not let mere men prevail against you!””
2 Chronicles 14:11 NLT
It is when we are at our weakest, that we recognize and humble ourselves to ask God to come along side us. When we find ourselves in impossible situations we know we can’t do it alone.
