2 Chronicles 23

“Remember, only the priests and Levites on duty may enter the temple of the Lord, for they are set apart as holy. The rest of the people must obey the Lord’s instructions and stay outside.” 2 Chronicles 23:6 NLT

This verse stood out to me because it reminded me that God calls certain people to perform specific tasks. The work of the priests and Levites on duty was important, but they would not have been able to perform their tasks and remain focused on the steps and procedures, if it weren’t for the others keeping watch and guarding against any attempt of entry by that of a Baal-worshipper.

As a result of this fact, there is to be no shame in any task that the Lord calls us to do.

  1. This stood out for me: “In the seventh year of Athaliah’s reign, Jehoiada the priest decided to act. He summoned his courage and made a pact with five army commanders: Azariah son of Jeroham, Ishmael son of Jehohanan, Azariah son of Obed, Maaseiah son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat son of Zicri.”
    ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭23:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

He summoned his courage…it may have taken seven years, but Jehoiada knew what he needed to do and he did it. It’s not always easy to do the right thing but we can “summon our courage” and do it. We are also more successful when we work with others rather than trying to do it all by ourselves.
