Obadiah is the shortest book in the OT, but not to be taken lightly as it is packed with divine authority.
The Lord reveals His vision to Obadiah concerning the land of Edom – that the people of Edom will be judged. That their pride would be humbled (vs 2-4). That their wealth would be plundered (vs 5-7). That their wisdom would be removed (vs 8-9). That their spiteful behaviour towards God’s peopled would be avenged (vs 10-16).
Then we read of the Lord’s gracious promises to Israel – that they would be restored and reformed. That they would be victorious over the Edomites, and become masters of their land as well as the lands of their neighbours (vs 17-20). And lastly, that the kingdom of the Lord will be set up by bringing in of the great salvation (vs 21).
The Lord has the final word. People can do what they want believing that they are in control, but just as we are reminded in this chapter, God will be the final authority.
“And the Lord himself will be king!” Obadiah 1:21b

This stood out for me:
“You have been deceived by your own pride because you live in a rock fortress and make your home high in the mountains. ‘Who can ever reach us way up here?’ you ask boastfully.”
Obadiah 1:3 NLT
It’s so easy to think that our own strengths and talents and ability and wisdom is simply something we have on our own merit. God gives and takes away according to His plan. We are not able to ‘outsmart’ God.
