Isaiah 2

“Israel is full of silver and gold; there is no end to its treasures. Their land is full of warhorses; there is no end to its chariots. Their land is full of idols; the people worship things they have made with their own hands.” Isaiah 2:7-8 NLT

It is true in that our possessions are so many. People purchase items simply to put into their collection. We buy items that are on sale, even if we don’t need them. We plan for retirement – putting as much money aside as possible so that our last years on this earth are enjoyable and relaxing.

This chapter speaks of those who are proud in the way of their possessions, sin, or idols, who will one day be humbled on the day of judgment. But those who have placed their hope and confidence in the Lord, will not be put to shame, but rather experience an everlasting honour; residing in the house of the Lord forever.

  1. This stood out for me: “Human pride will be brought down, and human arrogance will be humbled. Only the Lord will be exalted on that day of judgment.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭2:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We think too highly of ourselves. We think we know best and try to do everything on our own. One day we will fully comprehend our insignificance in relation to our creator.
