“Look to God’s instructions and teachings! People who contradict his word are completely in the dark.” Isaiah 8:20 NLT
The unbelieving Jews were prone to seek counsel during their difficult times from that of mediums and spirits of the dead. Not much has changed for the unbelievers even today.
Scripture provides us with God’s instructions, giving us the inside scoop on that which is good and beneficial. The knowledge within the Book is not to be used as simply a good read, but we are to absorb that information and then apply it to our everyday lives; taking us out of darkness and into light. Out of despair and into hope.

This stood out for me: “Therefore, the Lord will overwhelm them with a mighty flood from the Euphrates River —the king of Assyria and all his glory. This flood will overflow all its channels”

“Natural” disasters have the power to overthrow even the most powerful. Even considering COVID-19, who would have believed the magnitude of its mass shit down affecting people world wide. No one could buy their way out of it. No one was immune to having some aspect of their lives interrupted. No one could have seen this coming. Maybe God planned to overwhelm us with a mighty flood of Covid in order to have us rely on Him because ‘all our [own] glory’ is meaningless.

Great post Conrad. I often refer to God’s Word as my Manual of Life as I consult it daily and often seeking His guidance.
