Apart from the location, these words above are mentioned 5 times and are directed towards Israel’s neighbours for their acts of violence and oppression against Israel.
Today’s passage reminded me that our actions have two outcomes: our decisions can be either honouring to God and in which case He is pleased with us and one day we will be rewarded. Or our decisions will disregard His Law and in which case, like any good father, we will be punished.
The choice is ours. Which outcome will we choose?

The same thing stood out for me. It also made me think that just because we get away with something doesn’t mean the consequences of our actions won’t eventually catch up on us. I’m sure with each nation’s “victories” they were celebrated and proclaimed and yet the message in this passage is that God will punish them for their actions.
