“The people of Judah have sinned again and again, and I will not let them go unpunished! They have rejected the instruction of the Lord, refusing to obey his decrees. They have been led astray by the same lies that deceived their ancestors.” Amos 2:4 NLT
In this chapter the Lord continues to pass on judgment, but this time it is directed towards the nations of Judah and Israel. Nations that should know better.
That which leads us astray – alcohol, pornography, lust, lies, envy, greed, as well as many other sins, are the same today as it was during this time in history. Along with that, that which allows us to have victory in those areas of our lives is also the same today as it was at that time – accept the Lord’s instructions, listen to his teachings, absorb that knowledge, and apply that knowledge to our daily lives.
May we be able to put our pride to the side and humbly invite God to transform our hearts allowing Him to reign in the areas that we are weak. May we not find ourselves sinning again and again, but rather let us surrender those areas to the Lord, allowing Him to fight our battles.

This stood out for me: “Your fastest runners will not get away. The strongest among you will become weak. Even mighty warriors will be unable to save themselves.”
Amos 2:14 NLT
We often put too much faith in our own abilities: our athletic skills, our strength, our power and influence. Yet our abilities are from God and not giving credit where it’s due is wrong.
