“If you would do what is right, you would find my words comforting.” Micah 2:7b NLT
When I think of the word comfort the thought of being content, joy, happy, relaxed, relieved, and satisfied come to mind. In this frame of mind I picture myself on a holiday – relaxing by the water as the hot sun turns my skin to a golden brown (and typically a red burn). These are words of ease or good feeling. (Yes, even the burn feels good👌)
But comfort also has a meaning for assistance and aid – words such as compassion, encouragement, and sympathy could be used in this context.
And then there’s the perspective of comfort that makes us feel better. Words like console, reassure, refresh, relieve, or soothe.
In either scenario, by His words and instructions, our God comforts us. When we obey His law, we receive comfort – for there is no law against living by the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:23). When in need, His Word provides encouragement for us. Lastly, we have comfort in the assurance of Christ’s salvation (John 3:16).
May we take the time to receive the comfort from our Lord. He will meet us where we are, with the need that we have. He not only walks with us, but He also walks before us:
“The One who breaks open the way will go up before them; they will break through the gate and go out. Their King will pass through before them, the Lord at their head.” Micah 2:13 NIV

This stood out for me: ““Don’t say such things,” the people respond. “Don’t prophesy like that. Such disasters will never come our way!””
Micah 2:6 NLT
I’m sure that until this year many of us would have had trouble wrapping our head around the prophecies made in revelation and yet it’s pretty clear that what was predicted could come to pass. Worship (and other things) prevented from happening. “Mark” (vaccination/masks/sanitation) mandatory. We can feel like we’re living in the end times. We never imagined it and yet here we are living through it. Just because we don’t believe it doesn’t mean it won’t happen.
