2 Chronicles 28

“Instead, he (king Ahaz) followed the example of the kings of Israel. He cast metal images for the worship of Baal.” 2 Chronicles 28:2 NLT

I can recall the time when I was an early years student in school learning math and learning how to do long division. To help the students out the workbook we used always had an example already completed for us, explaining how to solve it and breaking the question down step by step. In addition to that (no pun intended 😉) this also provided us with the ability to refer back to the example should we be stumped.

The example in our workbook was provided for our benefit. This was to teach us and to provide us with a strong foundation, solidifying our understanding before moving on to the next unit in our math class.

We all have examples in our lives that we can follow. But it is our choice in which examples we focus on and which examples we choose to follow. May we choose to refer back to God’s Word (our workbook) as our example. May we choose to follow the example of those who have followed Christ’s example before us. And may we choose to live our lives in such a way that when others choose to follow us, that we would be drawing them closer to our Lord and Saviour.

  1. Good thoughts. This stood out for me:
“In a single day Pekah son of Remaliah, Israel’s king, killed 120,000 of Judah’s troops, all of them experienced warriors, because they had abandoned the Lord, the God of their ancestors.”
    ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭28:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

No matter how big, or tall, or skilled we think we are, of we do not have Christ on our side we will surely fail. May we not rely on ourselves but lean on Him.
