“‘In that day,’ declares the Lord, ‘you will call me my husband, you will no longer call me my master.'” Hosea 2:16 NIV
A master is someone who has people working for him; typically having dominance or control over someone or something such as a servant or a slave. The slave would be obliged to live their life in perpetual service to their master, an obligation that only the master can dissolve.
While a husband would be considered to be in a partnership with his wife; they are a team working together, showing loyalty and honesty to one another. There is intimacy within a marriage, open communication, and a sense of having the same desires, plans, and dreams.
The Lord calls us into relationship with Him – not as a master to a slave, but a husband to a wife. He wants us to be intimate with Him. To trust Him. To show restraint; remaining true to each other. To share the same values and interests. To be persistent in our relationship with Him; being truthful and having the desire to connect, and then reconnect when we fall to our selfish desires.
It is the Lord who desires a relationship with us. Not any lord, but the Lord of lords and the King of kings! We have nothing to offer Him, but our hearts. The question is, will we give Him our heart?

Great thoughts.
This stood out for me: “At that time I will plant a crop of Israelites and raise them for myself. I will show love to those I called ‘Not loved.’ And to those I called ‘Not my people,’ I will say, ‘Now you are my people.’ And they will reply, ‘You are our God!’””
Hosea 2:23 NLT
Sometimes it takes the worst situation to bring us to our knees and to realize who we can turn to. May we not wait until a desperate situation until we say “You are our God”
