Isaiah 29

“A hungry person dreams of eating but wakes up still hungry. A thirsty person dreams of drinking but is still faint from thirst when morning comes.” Isaiah 29:8a NLT

This verse reminded me that we often live our lives as a dream because we believe in the fact that we know what we need. We take in ‘food’ and ‘drink’ from the very things that we desire and in the end we are not feeling fulfilled, but rather we are left feeling unsatisfied.

We need to ‘wake up’ from the dream that we are living, humble ourselves, and turn to the provider of all things good. Jesus says in John 6:35, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

May we turn to Christ who is the Bread of Life; He satisfies and sustains. May we chase after, desire, and consume Him daily, ensuring that our hunger and thirst is quenched.

  1. This stood out for me: “What sorrow awaits those who try to hide their plans from the Lord, who do their evil deeds in the dark! “The Lord can’t see us,” they say. “He doesn’t know what’s going on!””
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭29:15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Today our pastor spoke about light. “The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus came to be the light. He gives light to everyone and reveals our hidden secret sin. Sin keeps us in the darkness. We stumble and get hurt trying to find our way. In the light we walk with confidence and joy.
