“You Assyrians produce nothing but dry grass and stubble. Your own breath will turn to fire and consume you.” Isaiah 33:11 NLT
Each morning I wake up, look in the mirror, and begin to make choices regarding my appearance. My hair (though less of it) is a bird’s nest, there’s sleep in my eyes, and my breath, well, let’s just say it needs refreshing. If left undone, what a mess I would be. My morning routine takes time but I need to take the appropriate steps to be presentable for my work.
The same goes for our Spiritual health; left to ourselves, we are undone. Every morning we must commit ourselves to Him so that we can go forth in His strength to do His work. It is in His wisdom and His knowledge that we become strong and steadfast in His ways.
May we humble ourselves and ask the Lord to show us the dry grass areas in our lives. And beyond that, may we then also take the required steps to ensure growth in those areas by planting seeds of righteousness.

Good thoughts.
This stood out for me: “What sorrow awaits you Assyrians, who have destroyed others but have never been destroyed yourselves. You betray others, but you have never been betrayed. When you are done destroying, you will be destroyed. When you are done betraying, you will be betrayed.”
Isaiah 33:1 NLT
It’s very hard to shake the confidence of someone who believes they are invincible. They don’t believe that it’s possible. I’ve had students in my class where things would come so easy to them. They were confident learners…until it came to something that they didn’t know. The struggle was often overwhelming because they weren’t used to having to work at learning. May we never be too proud that we think we are invincible.
