“Open up, O Heavens and pour out your righteousness. Let the earth open wide so salvation and righteousness can sprout up together. I, the Lord, created them.” Isaiah 45:8 NLT
Just as the Lord sent his son, He also sends us prosperity and good times (vs 7). Unfortunately, many do not know of Jesus Christ and the gift that He offers, nor receive the blessings that the Lord pours down for us.
When our hearts are hard like concrete we can not absorb the Lord’s word nor His goodness, just as the rain will not seep into our roads and sidewalks. But if we open up, even just a crack, a seed of righteousness can be planted and begin to germinate.
We must not expect salvation without righteousness; for the Lord created them to be together. May we turn God’s promises into prayers. May we open wide, allowing the Lord to nurture us into the servant He has called us to be, resting on His promise – the gift of salvation.

“I create the light and make the darkness. I send good times and bad times. I, the Lord, am the one who does these things.”
Isaiah 45:7 NLT
Sometimes we ask “why do bad things happen to people?” This verse reminds us that God is the giver all things. He brings the good things and the trials that grow our faith and character.
