In this chapter we can observe the sufferings of Christ:
He lacked attractiveness – there was nothing about his appearance to attract us to him (vs 2). He was despised and rejected – we turned our backs on him (vs 3). He was pierced, crushed, beaten, and whipped – all for our sins so that we could be healed. He was oppressed and like a lamb led to be slaughtered, but He never said a word (vs 7). He was unjustly condemned but buried like a criminal (vs 8-9).
All of Christ’s suffering was the Lord’s good plan to bring Him glory and us salvation. Christ conquered death. The stone being rolled away from the grave not only allowed Christ to be reunited with the Heavenly Father, but allows us the opportunity to one day join Him in the Heavenly Realm.
What a day that will be!

Sometimes we read passages like this and forget that it was written long before Jesus was born. The accuracy of the account is so amazing:
“But he was pierced… He was beaten… He was whipped…”
Isaiah 53:5 NLT
“He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word…”
Isaiah 53:7 NLT
“He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man’s grave.”
Isaiah 53:9 NLT
There is hope in the promise.
