“The Lord is slow to get angry, but His power is great and he never lets the guilty go unpunished.” Nahum 1:3a NLT
When we have done something wrong but have not been caught nor received punishment for, we believe that we have ‘gotten away’ with it. However, even if we have not been caught and punished for something here on earth, one day we will all stand before God Almighty and will be held accountable at that time for all our thoughts and actions. No one is exempt.
May we not take the Lord’s slow to anger attribute as a sign of weakness, but rather as an opportunity for us to repent and seek forgiveness.

Meditating on this is enough to drive one to their knees for known and forgotten/unconscious sins!

Slow to anger… so even when Nineveh repented and turned from their evil ways on account of Jonah’s short sermon barely into the city, they still did not have long lasting change. Nineveh was eventually destroyed. Slow to anger doesn’t mean there aren’t any consequences for disobedience.

So true Alan, we are not only held accountable for the sins we are aware of, but also for our unconscious/forgotten sins!
