Nahum 2

“The Lord will restore the splendour of Jacob like the splendour of Israel, though destroyers have laid them waste and have ruined their vines.” Nahum 2:2 NIV

During the restoration process typically the item or area gets messier, dirtier, and worse before it gets better. It may involve further destruction with the removal of that which is no longer useful or damaged beyond repair. When it comes to historical properties, restoration depicts a property at a particular period of time in its history, while removing evidence of other periods.

The Lord is in the business of restoration. But when He restores, He makes us better than we were before. The Lord does not discard anything – He takes our shattered, broken lives and glues them back together with His love, making us stronger in the places that we were once weak.

May we say yes to the Lord and surrender ourselves to Him. May we give our lives to Him so that He can restore us, making us stronger and better than before.

  1. Great thoughts.

This stood out for me: “Nineveh is like a leaking water reservoir! The people are slipping away. “Stop, stop!” someone shouts, but no one even looks back.”
    ‭‭Nahum‬ ‭2:8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

A reservoir is a containment of something valuable. Most often it’s water and this verse magnifies the reality that when a reservoir has a leak , it is essentially useless. The low drop might not be noticeable but soon it’s inevitable that it will become dry. When Nineveh turned from God it also lost value and the people became dry and sin took over. Even if one person tried to get others to notice this fade, the leak still threatened and took over.
