“Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land, you who do what he commands. Seek righteousness, seek humility; perhaps you will be sheltered on the day of the Lord’s anger.” Zephaniah 2:3 NIV
We have all been on the hunt for something; lost keys, misplaced phone, a document of some sort, or a shirt you hoped to wear that day. In our moment of tacking down that item, the longer it takes for us to find it, the stronger our desire for it becomes. Also in that moment, we find ourselves putting aside all other tasks or worries until we have found it.
We are to seek the Lord – seek Him so that we can better understand and also keep His commands. We are to seek righteousness – to daily persevere in the practice of all His commands, not just the commands that we like or that are ‘easier’ for us to follow. We are to seek humility – this is to be in all areas of our lives. We need to submit to Him, his power, and his authority; not complaining against his plan but submitting to it. Not taking situations into our own hands but waiting patiently upon the Lord.
The first “seek” in the verse above is seeking the Lord. May we also seek Him first in our lives.

Great thoughts!
In this season, the first verse stood out for me: “Gather together—yes, gather together, you shameless nation.”
Zephaniah 2:1 NLT
It is good for believers to gather together. To gather and worship, to gather and pray, to gather and refine each other. This has been a year of disconnection and we see the results of the disconnect in so many ways. People criticizing, people divided on whether masks should be worn or whether churches should defy health orders, people divided in what they choose to do on Sunday mornings (attend a virtual service or do nothing) Let us unite (since division is Satan’s best tool of destruction) and gather and stand firm in the faith.
