Jeremiah 12

“If racing against mere men makes you tired, how will you race against horses? If you stumble and fall on open ground, what will you do in the thickets near the Jordan?” Jeremiah 12:5 NLT

We can find ourselves complaining about our current situation and circumstances, but the reality is that it can always be worse. During our time of hardship, though it’s possible, we don’t believe that even more difficult or harder trials are just around the corner for us.

When someone decides to run a marathon, chances are when they are done training, they will be faster, stronger, and more capable of finishing the marathon in comparison to when they first began training. It’s the situation that we are in today that trains us for tomorrow.

Even though we don’t know what tomorrow brings, we can have peace knowing that we are currently training for it. May we not be discouraged about today or for what tomorrow might bring. Instead, may we rejoice in the Lord knowing that He never leaves us nor forsakes us, but that He also prepares us and equips us.

  1. Good thoughts.

This stood out for me: “Lord, you always give me justice when I bring a case before you. So let me bring you this complaint: Why are the wicked so prosperous? Why are evil people so happy?”
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭12:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

and the flip side is also curious: why do bad things happen to good people. Both of these situations can cause someone to question their faith. If sinful people ‘have it all’ in the eyes of the public then who needs God. If following God still allows terrible circumstances to happen then who needs God? These situations are exactly what Satan uses to feed us lies that lead us from the truth.
