“I will banish from them the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom, the sound of millstones and the light of the lamp.” Jeremiah 25:10 NIV
Joy, gladness, voices of celebration, prosperity, and comfortable living – all items that we work or look forward to, and also all items referenced in this verse. As I read this verse, I was reminded that we can only give away from that which we have, and on the flip side, we can only take back from that which we have already given away.
It is the Lord who is the giver of all things good. It is when we follow His commands that we experience lasting joy and gladness. It is when we seek first His kingdom, not ours, that we receive all that we need.
In closing, I will leave you with Matthew 6:33 – Seek the kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.

That same verse stood out for me: “I will take away your happy singing and laughter. The joyful voices of bridegrooms and brides will no longer be heard. Your millstones will fall silent, and the lights in your homes will go out.”
Jeremiah 25:10 NLT
I feel like Covid has taken away so much joy and laughter. Things I once loved now have been extinguished and it’s hard for me to find the joy and peace I once had. Is this how it felt when God took their joy? I long to feel that joy again and I’m sure they longed for what they once had as well.
