“‘But if any nation will bow its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him, I will let that nation remain in its own land to till it and to live there,’ declares the Lord.” Jeremiah 27:11 NIV
Those who choose to not serve God, the creator of all things, will be made to serve their enemies that seek to ruin them. The Lord, through the prophet Jeremiah, urges the Israelites to prevent their total destruction by submitting to the Lord. Though we reap what we sow, we can minimize our destruction if we humble ourselves and decide to serve the Lord. This requires a spirit in us that is meek and a heart that is softened, but it is better to take up a light cross in our path, rather than pulling a heavier cross on our head.
For it is the poor in spirt and the humble who enjoy comfort and avoid many miseries to which the opposite are exposed to. May we choose to, in all situations, listen to and obey the Lord’s commands.

This stood out for me: “Now I will give your countries to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, who is my servant. I have put everything, even the wild animals, under his control. All the nations will serve him, his son, and his grandson until his time is up. Then many nations and great kings will conquer and rule over Babylon.”
Jeremiah 27:6-7 NLT
For everything there is a season. Some seasons are pleasant. Some seasons aren’t. But all seasons come to an end. The note “until his time is up” tells us that every season is also dependent on God’s timing and that even if we don’t fully understand what God is orchestrating behind the scenes we can know that He is at work and He is faithful. He will get us through the tough seasons.
