“Perhaps the people of Judah will repent when they hear again all the terrible things I have planned for them. Then I will be able to forgive their sins and wrongdoings.” Jeremiah 36:3 NLT
God desires to have a meaningful, purposeful, and personal relationship with us. He wants to have a relationship that is long lasting and one that we can not do without. He wants to see us grow and to be there for us when we need Him. His desire is that we would trust Him in everything, not just in certain areas of our lives.
The Lord does not want to see us suffer nor get hurt. It breaks His heart to see us making the same mistakes over and over again. God provides us with many opportunities to repent, turn from our evil ways, and follow His commands. His desire for mankind is that all sins would be forgiven and He demonstrated this by sending his only son, Jesus, to die for them.
The challenge is that even though He has chosen us, we still need to choose Him. We need to turn from gratifying the desires of the flesh and begin walking with the Spirit. God wants our hearts, not our words or our actions.
May we head to His opportunity of forgiveness – accepting His gift of salvation and forming a personal relationship with Him, before it is too late.

This stood out for me: “Each time Jehudi finished reading three or four columns, the king took a knife and cut off that section of the scroll. He then threw it into the fire, section by section, until the whole scroll was burned up.”
Jeremiah 36:23 NLT
Ignorance is not an excuse. Maybe the king thought that burning the scroll would make it cease to exist and therefore not applicable. Not true. Pretending or preventing judgement just makes it all the more painful because sin has consequences. When a driver goes 60 in a school zone they get a ticket. It doesn’t matter if they knew it was a school zone. It doesn’t matter if they thought it was a Saturday. The speed (law to obey) is 30. Even if you didn’t see the sign, doesn’t make it not 30. To have the message burned doesn’t negate the punishment for breaking the law.
