“Then you will know that I, the Lord your God, dwell in Zion, my holy hill. Jerusalem will be holy; never again will foreigners invade her. In that day the mountains will drip new wine, and the hills will flow with milk; all the ravines of Judah will run with water. A fountain will flow out of the Lord’s house and will water the valley of acacias.” Joel 3:17-18 NIV
At the end of the previous chapter we read of the Lord’s gracious promise of deliverance in Mount Zion and Jerusalem. Chapter 3 provides insight as to what that deliverance looks like; destruction of the church’s enemies and the eventual everlasting peace and joy of the church.
In our present times, or at least in the city where I reside, it feels as though Satan is gaining momentum. There is becoming a great division among believers and church’s that non-believers are a witness to. This division includes smaller issues such as the idea of wearing a mask or receiving the vaccination, to a much larger concern that includes the erosion of the Gospel truth.
In reading through the book of Joel, I was reminded that we serve the same God Almighty today that delivered and restored Jerusalem back then. The Lord was in control at that time and He is in control now. It was His battle to win then and it is His battle to win today.
May we remain strong in the Lord, knowing that our hope is not in this world and not in ourselves, but rests only in the Great God Almighty. We do this so that all will know that the Lord our God dwells with us.

So true. The biggest obstacle for people becoming Christians is Christians. Our division and the sway toward society rather than scripture is harmful.
This stood out for me: “The Lord’s voice will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth will shake. But the Lord will be a refuge for his people, a strong fortress for the people of Israel.”
Joel 3:16 NLT
Despite the judgement and theft and slavery that the Israelites endured, the promise of redemption was true. It’s also true for us. Even if we stray, if we are divided, or are prone to sinful habits we are redeemable.
