“He will cause deceit to prosper, and he will consider himself superior. When they feel secure, he will destroy many and take his stand against the Prince of princes. Yet he will be destroyed, but not by human power.” Daniel 8:25 NIV
Deceit – the action or practice of deceiving someone by concealing or misrepresenting the truth. Deceit was first introduced in the book of Genesis, in the familiar story of Adam and Eve being deceived by the serpent. There was little, but at the same time just enough truth inserted into the lies so that Adam and Eve would feel secure in what the serpent was saying.
The very thing that Satan stands for is the exact opposite to that of our Lord. Satan deceives while the Lord is truth. Satan considers himself superior while Christ made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant. Satan destroys while the Lord restores.
May we not fall trap to the lies and deception of our enemy, but rather place our hope and security in the Prince of princes.

The final verse stood out for me: “Then I, Daniel, was overcome and lay sick for several days. Afterward I got up and performed my duties for the king, but I was greatly troubled by the vision and could not understand it.”
Daniel 8:27 NLT
Presently dealing with a situation that has made me feel overcome and I totally understand Daniel’s need to rest. We all can reach a point of burn out where we are feeling absolutely overwhelmed. However, it doesn’t last forever (joy will come in the morning) and we will get back to our regular duties. I thought the last point was important too that even when the vision was explained, Daniel could still not understand it. Somethings are just too big for us to truly comprehend and that’s ok.
