Zechariah 13

“On that day a fountain will be opened for the dynasty of David and for the people of Jerusalem, a fountain to cleanse them from all their sins and impurity.” Zechariah 13:1 NLT

This fountain opened is the pierced side of Jesus Christ. It was only in His death on the cross that would give the provision in cleansing of sin to those who truly repent of them.

In John 1:29 we read, “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, ‘Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” As John the Baptizer said these words, he was declaring words of hope as their long awaited Saviour had finally come to pardon their sins!

The fountain opened for the dynasty of David is flowing even today, which can never be emptied. Those who are washed in this fountain are not only cleansed, but are also sanctified. It is in our sanctification that we serve under grace because of Christ’s blood spilled out for us, and because of God’s love for us, we strive to live a life obedient to our Heavenly Father.

  1. Ironic that blood will wash us clean.

This stood out for me: ““On that day people will be ashamed to claim the prophetic gift. No one will pretend to be a prophet by wearing prophet’s clothes.”
    ‭‭Zechariah‬ ‭13:4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We live in a time where mediums, tarot cards, and ouija boards are celebrated and ‘cool’. One day no one will claim to know the future, claim to contact the dead, or brag that they have the knowledge and power that only God has. We want to be like God and yet we will always fall short.
