Zechariah 14

“I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it; the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women raped. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city. Then the Lord will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights on a day of battle.” Zechariah 14:2-3 NIV

I found it interesting that there would be a split in the city of Jerusalem; half of the people would be taken into exile and half would not. This reminded me of the state of division that I believe our current global church is in. There appears to be a mixture of truth and error mingled with grace and corruption, which is creating a deformation of what the church should look like.

The good news is, just as this season for the Jews would appear to be at their darkest moment, that is when the Lord turns the darkness into light. Literally – “It will be a unique day – a day known only to the Lord – with no distinction between day night. When evening comes, there will be light.” (Verse 7)

Every believer, relating to the God of creation as his God, can triumph in the expectation of Christ’s return and in His power. The day and time of Christ’s return remains unknown, but when that day comes, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess, both on earth and in Heaven, that Jesus Christ is the King of kings.

  1. Division within the church is so important to rectify because it does inhibit others from wanting to come to Christ.

“And the Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day there will be one Lord—his name alone will be worshiped.”
    ‭‭Zechariah‬ ‭14:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

What a glorious day that will be! God always keeps His promises.
