“In despair he fell on the couch where Queen Esther was reclining, just as the king was returning from the palace garden.” Esther 7:8 NLT
Though God is not mentioned in the book of Esther, the book tells the story of God’s providence. So far in our reading of Esther, we have come across many coincidences that have occurred that simply cannot be accidental.
First we had Vashti’s deposition and Esther becoming queen. We read about the king being in the right frame of mind in order to hold out the golden scepter of acceptance for Queen Esther to approach him without his prior request. During the night, the king was unable to sleep and requested to hear some of the chronicles of his reign. Going through the chronicles lead to the king’s decision to honour Mordecai at exactly the same moment that Haman came in to request the permission for his death. Today we read how Haman fell on Queen Esther while pleading for his life in despair, only to have the king return to the room and witness this scene.
God in other words was moving behind the scenes, bringing His will to pass. May the understanding that we are not in control, bring us peace knowing that all of life lies under God’s great plan.

That was unfortunate timing for Haman.
The part about covering Haman’s face intrigued me and I found this: “covered Haman’s face—The import of this striking action is, that a criminal is unworthy any longer to look on the face of the king, and hence, when malefactors are consigned to their doom in Persia, the first thing is to cover the face with a veil or napkin.”
Interesting that Haman’s face was covered because he was unworthy of the king and we are invited into the presence of the King of the Universe and forgiven for all our words, deeds, and actions if we would only ask,
