“They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving the meaning so that the people understood what was being read.” Nehemiah 8:8 NIV
There is a show that I watch on television that if I did not have the subtitles playing, I would miss half of the words said along with their meaning, due to the accent being somewhat foreign to my ears. For me, during this show, many of the words spoken would simply be an empty sound of words without the use of subtitles.
Those who hear the Word of God should also understand it. Reading the Word of God is good. Preaching the Word of God is good too. But having a preacher that can effectively expound the Word of God, making it practical and applicable to all ages, makes the preaching real and more convincing. It was through expositional preaching from Ezra and the Levites that all the people listened to the Word and understood.
As we attempt to share the the Good News, may the Lord guide our tongue in what we say, giving us the correct words to use, that will deliver words of truth and draw others closer to you Lord.

If we don’t hear (read) the words we will miss the message.
“…. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!””
Nehemiah 8:10b NLT
Knowing God has it all under control IS a cause for joy. I think it’s easy to forget this.
