“Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.” Psalm 126:5 NKJV
This psalm is most likely penned after God delivered His people out of bondage and distress from their captivity in Babylon. Prior to their deliverance, the Israelites would have felt that all was lost with no bright light at the end of their dark tunnel.
Like a farmer who plants seed in the ground when everything around appears to be dead, there is still hope in the crop to be successful. It does not remove the fear of a poor or less than bountiful harvest, but without the sowing there will be no reaping.
God is all knowing and in His providence he provides all that we need. It is in His goodness from days past that we should be praying unto Him for the days ahead. But as we recently learned from Nehemiah, it requires work and effort on our part, for we cannot just sit back and expect results.

“Yes, the Lord has done amazing things for us! What joy!”
Psalms 126:3 NLT
Sometimes it is only in looking back that we can see how God was working in the background to the place we are now. What joy we have knowing that God has, and will do, the most amazing things for us. Whatever season we are in, we can be confident of this.
