Malachi 3

“‘I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,’ says the Lord Almighty. But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap.” Malachi 3:1-2 NIV

In this chapter we have the promise in the coming of the Messiah. Upon His arrival, either comfort or terror will be brought upon us. Comfort will be felt by His church and people, while the wicked will experience terror. He is the Judge of judges, and He will judge us all for our actions. Though He is a judge and all powerful, He is also all loving too. In this chapter we also read His promise that if you turn away from wickedness and return to him, then He will also return to you (verse 7).

There will undoubtedly be a Day of Judgment that we will all experience. May we heed the Lord’s call of repentance in order to receive His promise of mercy.

  1. “Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease. Your grapes will not fall from the vine before they are ripe,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.”
    ‭‭Malachi‬ ‭3:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

How many times have we attributed our success to our own work? When things are going well, we tend not to think about who is responsible for our good fortune. Unfortunately, the reverse is not often the case: people tend to blame God when things go wrong. We don’t realize that in our suffering we tend to draw closer to Him. We should praise Him in every circumstance.
